PEACE RIVER COUNTRY
RECREATIONAL WILDERNESS RETREAT
SIZE: 620.23 Acres
DESCRIPTION: The property is basically flat with a slight south facing slope and excellent drainage. Vegetation is predominantly mixed poplar forest with some scattered pine. The property's eastern side is a large grassy meadow. The surrounding area includes very large grainfields and cattle ranches. Area fishing and hunting is excellent. Nearby Nig Creek runs west to east along the south boundary, entering the property briefly at the southeast corner. Also near this corner is the access road with a bridge that crosses Nig Creek. A smaller creek also runs through the property along the west side, from the north to the south through the large meadow, entering Nig Creek just south of the property boundary. This smaller creek valley is entirely on the property and affords some spectacular views from many potential building sites. These sites would also make excellent wildlife viewing locations as they overlook what is basically an active wildlife corridor.
LOCATION: 65 miles (104 km) north of Fort St. John, British Columbia.
DIRECTIONS: Head north from Fort St. John on the Alaska Highway. At Mile 73 there is a store, café and campground. Turn right here (east) onto the Beatton River Road. Drive through the town of Buick and continue north on the Beatton River Road. Before reaching the Bailey bridge on Nig Creek, there is a fork in the road. At this fork, a sign says *Nig Creek Farms* and another sign says *Numac Energy Unbach Compressor Site.* The sign may or may not still be up. In any case, take the right hand fork. From this fork head east approximately 1 mile to railroad tracks. Cross the tracks and continue east 2 miles. Turn left (north) and drive half a mile. Turn right (east) and drive 1 mile. Turn left (north) and drive 1&1/2 miles to a bridge across Nig Creek. You are now just off the southeast corner of the property. (NOTE: This southeast corner of the property is actually exactly 4 miles east and 2 miles north of the Beatton River Road fork where the signs were).
